About the Author
Rodney Roussell
Some people write to escape. I write because I survived.
My stories come from the trenches—real experiences shaped by struggle, consequence, and the long road back. I don't write about redemption because it sounds good. I write about it because I've lived it.
Every character I create carries weight. Every plot twist reflects something true. The streets, the cells, the choices that haunt you—these aren't backdrops. They're the foundation.
I also write under the name M.C. Shakie—a voice for the rawer edges, the stories that demand a different kind of telling.
This work isn't about sympathy. It's about truth. And truth, when told right, has the power to change things.
What Drives the Work
Truth
No sugarcoating. No performance. Just honest stories that respect the reader enough to tell it straight.
Consequence
Every action has weight. My characters earn their outcomes—good or bad. That's life. That's the work.
Redemption
Second chances aren't given—they're fought for. That's the story worth telling. That's the one I know.
"I write for the ones who've been counted out. The ones still fighting. The ones who know that starting over is harder than starting fresh."
